Colleen and Buddy

Graduated : 2016
Colleen was only 16 years old when she became part of the GOFI family.  She was still in high school at the time. It was a chore to get her to go to school every day, actually, it was a chore to get her out of her room during this time.  She was diagnosed with Epilepsy when she was only 9 years old. During her childhood, she had broken many bones due to falling down when she would have a seizure. When she met Buddy, all that changed.  She now had a reason to get out of the house and she even enjoyed it! She came to training every weekend and Jason and Marybeth who raised Buddy for her would get together during the week. They developed a great friendship and are still in contact today.  In fact, one of our goals at GOFI is to have our recipients have that chance to make friends and enjoy social outings while having a chance to train their own Service Dog. Today Colleen is a trainer for GOFI and does presentations to tell her story and to hopefully help others as GOFI has helped her.
